Tempest is a company on a mission to help you enjoy more privacy in your digital life.

One of the solutions Tempest is building is a that respects user’s privacy, while still enabling users to find what they’re looking for in seconds. There is no collection of personally identifiable information, no use of cookies and every search is encrypted.


Challenge

The goal was to create a search engine that prioritized user privacy without compromising the quality or relevance of search results. The challenge was balancing privacy protection with providing a seamless search experience that users would find familiar and efficient. Additionally, it was crucial to integrate features that visibly reinforced users’ trust in the system’s privacy safeguards.

Solution

We developed a privacy-focused search engine that protects user data while delivering accurate and relevant results. Key to this was the introduction of Info Cards, which provided users with quick, relevant information without compromising their privacy. The design also included real-time privacy indicators, reinforcing users’ confidence in the security of their search activities.

03.2 Solution Overview

Infocard Collection

After creating an infocard design framework that could adapt to different types of information and also ensured they remained the primary focus of the page. The design team works each sprint on a new infocard based on a Product Requirements

Document (PRD) provided by the product manager. Additionally, existing infocards are iteratively improved based on feedback from various stakeholders. Currently, there are 14 infocards live and many more are being designed and developed.
